MtnClimber Posted February 21, 2013 Share Posted February 21, 2013 My 2000 K2500 is similiar. Full of fuel=7/8 on the guage. When the guage says empty, I still have 10+ gallons left. Biotex Posted February 21, 2013 Share Posted February 21, 2013 It's a plastic tank skid cover correct? I think there are metal ones, but I have only removed the plastic ones. Usually the plastic is broken, and/or the bolts twist off. I remove them and leave them off. I don't see what good they serv. I'm planning on a metal one. I think sparks are in your future... Yep, attached to the frame with 1/2" OD nutserts. Once they start spinning you either have to drill or burn them out. Then to re-attach you have to tack weld nuts to the frame, maybe with a plate, which how the factory should have done it in the first place.
