Goose Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 With a full tank, it only shows 3/4. At empty, I still have about 6 gal left. Any ideas?
Minuit Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Has the fuel tank been replaced? Mine does it as well after replacing the old rusted tank.
MtnClimber Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 My 2000 K2500 is similiar. Full of fuel=7/8 on the guage. When the guage says empty, I still have 10+ gallons left. Reason: Original sending unit with a bigger replacement tank.
Minuit Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Yeah I think the replacement tanks are slightly bigger than the original ones.
Goose Posted February 21, 2013 Author Posted February 21, 2013 So.....do they have senders that adjust for the size? Or can I adjust the stock one? I'm used to it now, but I'm removing the bed to fix rust, so I thought id fix it.
Goose Posted February 21, 2013 Author Posted February 21, 2013 Has the fuel tank been replaced? Mine does it as well after replacing the old rusted tank. Not sure. Po only had it for 2 months. It had floorboard rust, still has rocker rust. Could be a replacement.
mvusse Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 With a full tank, it only shows 3/4. At empty, I still have about 6 gal left. Any ideas? Bend the float arm a bit.
conker Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Any tips on removing the gas tank skidplate? One that doesn't involve sparks, all but 2 bolts are spinning in the frame and I've got a leak about 3/4 up
Biotex Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 It's a plastic tank skid cover correct? I think there are metal ones, but I have only removed the plastic ones. Usually the plastic is broken, and/or the bolts twist off. I remove them and leave them off. I don't see what good they serv. I'm planning on a metal one. Edit: You mentioned the bolts spinning in the frame, so you must have a metal skid. I think sparks are in your future...
HOrnbrod Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Edit: You mentioned the bolts spinning in the frame, so you must have a metal skid. I think sparks are in your future... Yep, attached to the frame with 1/2" OD nutserts. Once they start spinning you either have to drill or burn them out. Then to re-attach you have to tack weld nuts to the frame, maybe with a plate, which how the factory should have done it in the first place.
