I was wondering if anybody knew if the rear brake components off a 86 mj dana 35 would work on a xj dana 44. My brakes on the new to me dana 44 are dickered, the backing plates have holes rotted through them. I'd rather use my decent brake components than buy new. Thanks for any info

What year is the XJ?

Oops -- never mind. The D44s weren't c-clip in any year. Yes, the D35 brakes should work, but you will be limited to using the 1-3/4" D35 drums.

My Dana 44 has 2-1/2" x 10" shoes. I noticed a difference when I changed from the D35, especially how the E brake works!

Yes, but his Dana 44 backing plates are trashed, which is why he needs to swap. The wider drums will NOT work with the D35 backing plates.
