88whitemanche
What's up guys in the next coming weeks I plan on doing my front end as far as ball joints unit bearings tie rods and etc. my main question when I get in there and pull the two axle shafts and replace the ujoints how I put them back? Do I have to readjust the front axle? Or they just slide back in place?
87manche1
They just slide back in pretty much
gogmorgo
Yeah, hardest part of the axle shaft removal/install is getting that axle nut off. You will break 1/2in drive breaker bars. Although since you're replacing the bearing, might as well throw a torch on it. It'll make your job that much easier. But yeah, when they're going back in they just slide right in. Don't drag them along the bottom of the axle tube so you don't wreck the seals.

SW86
Yeah, hardest part of the axle shaft removal/install is getting that axle nut off. You will break 1/2in drive breaker bars. PB blaster and an 1/2" impact. done. i guess where you guys get rust, might make it a little harder though
gogmorgo
Soaked it in PB for three days. Impact just made a lot of noise. I had a new nut and spindle, so after breaking the breaker bar, I just took a cutoff wheel to it.
