Just an update on the blue one.   Sold for $5200

I've finished building the 02 limited that I've been working on.

It's a texas jeep, so damn near no rust.

Was a 2x4, had a bad motor and the po sold the motor and trans.    I have fully converted it to 4x4, everything works proper, even the indicator light.    It has an nv231 as I did not have a 242 to put in it.

140k miles on the body.  The motor, trans, tcase, front diff, front suspension, front k-member, rack and pinion all came out of a renegade with 111k miles on it.

Runs beautiful.   Drives great.

has 4 brand new Nokian Vativa 235/70R16's on it on stock alloys, and the spare is same with about 70% tread left.

brakes are damn near new, and have been completely gone through and checked.

Fresh oil change and other fluid maintenance done, as well as tune-up with new plugs and air filter.

New Serpentine belt, tensioner, idler pullies

rebuilt rear driveshaft

New factory upper a-arms

3.73 gears all around.

For options, it has;

Power windows
Power locks
Power heated mirrors
Rear defrost
Rear wiper
Cruise control
A/C
Tilt Column
Sunroof/moon roof (factory, pop-up and power slide)
Leather/heated, though I believe the heating elements are bad.   Leather is worn, but still pretty nice considering the mileage and age
Overhead console
Factory CD/Tape deck works great, all surround sound works great
Steering wheel Radio controls
Cargo area retractable cover
Factory Fog lights
Factory Alloy wheels

Full Renegade skid plate package (front, Transfercase, gas tank)
Class 3 rear hitch with factory tow package (7 pin trailer connector)
Factory front tow hook brackets with aftermarket full stainless hooks and retainers

The paint has some scuffing and blemishes.  The fuel door doesn't match the vehicle (darker blue) but I have ordered the paint and another fuel door to paint and install once it dries.

This thing is a very nice ride.  I took it out for a 70 mile trip today to give her a shakedown run, without issues.

no problem!

Went and looked at another one the other day. too many variables and issues with trustworthiness of owners and condition of title. motor and trans are locked up.

Have a guy who rear ended someone who needed some front end parts and subframe parts. Out comes the trusty miller spectrum 625 plasma cutter!

front brake line assembly and wire harness shroud

entire front subframe side to side

crap pic, but the frame only has a few spots where it's 2 layers thick. easy to cut

That's all I've really done lately, aside from clean shop and tending to my business. Will finish stripping this one this weekend.

LOL, "familiar" might be an understatement. But I have got to have a professional looking vehicle. My xj is reliable with tons of new parts, great tires, awesome condition. But it needs outward work.

The KJ, even with the flaws of a 3.7, will be reliable and issue free for me. I'm excited for it, it's the exact color combo I want, and a rare one. All the options I want, too.

Some more pics of it.    I'm picking up another one to sell today, so this one will be on the back burner while I fix the other one.   Also have a subaru WRX to remove the aftermarket alarm in and replace all suspension bushings so a buddy can sell it, and an xj to lift and do some other work to (remove abs, etc.).    So this one will be a couple weeks off from starting.

aaand one more.

02 Limited

3.7l

auto

2x4

power windows

power locks

power heated mirrors

power heated leather seats

factory tow package

power sunroof

evic/otis

cruise control

radio controls

texas jeep. Motor troubles (of course), but very fixable.

From what I can tell, more than one rocker skipped at once, and they got wedged between the cam and head, pushing out on the cam and breaking two bridges (If that's what they're called) and wrecking the bearing surface of the cam.

Still runs...turned it over with fuel pump relay out, fired right up. I shut it down immediately of course.

Plans;

convert to 4x4

clean in and out, with some paint work to fix scratches

fix engine

new tires and brakes

sell.

Today's progress:

Finished working on my other brother's 2002 Subaru WRX. Suspension check, new 02 sensor, aftermarket remote start/security system removal.

Then went on to tear this thing apart.

Removed Engine, Trans, Kmember, front suspension, Engine bay wiring, radiator.

Then We;

Removed engine/trans harness from the whole assembly

Removed starter

Removed mechanical fan hub

split the trans from the engine, and drained it.

Removed flex plate

Removed intake manifold and fuel rail

Removed other valve cover

Put engine on stand

threw front suspension and Kmember in scrap pile

Removed timing cover

Removed timing set

Removed heads

Removed Oil pan

Removed pan gasket

Removed oil pickup

Removed oil pump

Laid everything out how it came out.

Tomorrow will be the day to finish teardown, organize parts, clean parts, order new parts.

Then We will pull the Orange liberty in to get it's motor out. If the heads are good on it, I will need them for this motor.

Pics.

That's all for today.

Got some more work done now. Pulled the orange KJ in as I needed the heads off of it. Got to looking, there is a rod through the oil pan on it. Removed everything, popped the valve covers, the cam bearing caps are new, the heads have been beaten up. looks as though it's had the same issue as the motor in the black one, and they fixed it without dropping the pan to clear out debris...I believe that it has to have sucked up some of whatever was left of the old cam bearing caps.

I'll get this engine in a stand tomorrow, parts all out of the way. I'm going to locate and buy a good head, get the motor that's already apart fixed, get the black one back together.

well, we could both have it worse.

Today I just got the trans off the bad block, and slid it back under the jeep, put the motor on a stand, and slid the kmember and suspension back under the jeep.

I had to remove the trans without the torque converter as the motor wouldn't turn far enough to get even 2 converter bolts out. I was able to get them out after the fact, and put the torque converter back in the trans. I had to drain the trans, first.

here's the hole in the pan from the rod.

up on the stand

Everything kicked back under and out of the way.

Now I'm done on the orange one for awhile. I won't be posting updates on it for a few weeks, but you will all like what I have in store. Let's just say it will have a build thread all of it's own.

Back to the black one for now.

more teasers.

trans bolted right up.   Only thing different is the inspection cover/girdle/reinforcement needs two holes redrilled.

That is a v6 manifold bolted to it.   ports line up.   I'll be using that  and the v8 manifold to make one.   Found out the composition of the metal, ordered the proper rod for the stick welder so I can do it right.     This allows me to use the factory heat shields.
