terrawombat Posted December 15, 2012 Share Posted December 15, 2012 I did this exact swap on my '01XJ after spinning a rod bearing on the original engine. The swap is extremely easy IF you have an adapter plate to go from the larger intake/exhaust ports on the '98 engine to the smaller ports on the '01 two-piece cast manifold. Adapter plate can be seen here: Pull the dizzy out of the hole and drop the camshaft position sensor...just make sure it's set correctly and isn't 180 degrees out like I did the first time around :yes: Some of the '98 sensors may have different connector plugs, so you'll need to steal the sensors from the '01 engine.
