Well I Shaved My Head

I recently decided to shave my head down with a razor and all. When I first decided to shave it everything went well. The second time I went to shave it (about 3 days later) I cut the hell out if my head. I thought to myself "there has to be an easier way to do this." So the next day I went to the store to buy one of the biggest mistakes of my life; nair. For those of you that don't know nair uses chemicals to dissolve the unwanted hair. And since the hair on my head was unwanted it seemed like a great idea. I waited to a few days for the cuts to heal up then I naired my head. NEVER EVER NAIR YOUR HEAD!!! I guess wisdom really comes from mistakes. A whole bottle of aloe and a chemical burn like you wouldn't believe.

So my question is...for those of you that shave your head, what's the best way to do it?

LOL @ Jim.

Welcome to the bald head club. I don't always shave it down to the skin. Most of the time I go over my head with clippers and no guard. But when I do shave it all the way down, I use shaving soap (same for my face, have to stay clean shaven) and a gillette 5 blade job. One of the fusion models with the battery. I've tried various shaving creams before and I still prefer the old school method with shaving soap and a brush. I don't remember "off the top of my head" which soap i'm using now, but it's one with aloe and other stuff in it for sensitive skin. Lets face it, your dome skin is pretty thin and sensitive! Also there are various cremes and polishes for your head once you're done shaving it if you so choose to use them. In retrospect, it kind of sucks now since my hair was down to the the middle of my back in the mid 90s as a teenager. Oh well, good luck and be proud of the bald head!

I buzz mine with clippers once a week but when I do shave it I use the best razor I have. I used to have an electric Norelco and it worked really well. What I don't like about disposable razors is that they're flat and my head is round. It seems to take a lot of extra strokes to get everything.

thanks for the input everyone! i really needed this advice. the headblade is something I'm seriosuly going to look into. i used barbosal the first time i did it and then i ran out of it so i used the edge shave gel. that didnt seem to work out so well as i did cut my head pretty badly.

The first week I shaved my head, I had a few cuts and scrapes. I used some pure aloe vera gel to ease the sting. I was offloading trucks for FedEx at the time and I wore a ball cap because I wasn't used to walking around bareheaded yet.

It was really hot inside the warehouse and I was sweating up a storm. I took off my cap to wipe the sweat off my dome and my head was a gooey mess. The sweat had pushed the aloe vera gel back out of my pores and into my cap. The people I was working with were like WTF? I had to go wash off my head and throw away the cap.
