huck731
I got the topper off today along with the garage cleaned so I can get her in there. I'm going to attempt to drive it to work tomorrow based on the sole fact that it gets alot better fuel mileage that a 95 chevyt 1500 Z71.

huck731
oh, now I feel dumb. actually I have never heard of that part before, but that is probably because I have never had a vehicle with one as far as I know.
87Warrior
Idle speed controller motor .... His 91 has the Chrysler multipoint fuel injection system not the renix throttle body system, therefore no Idle Speed Control Motor. Instead, it will have an Idle Air Control Valve (IAC) which is a plunger style device that can usually be cleaned.

JT31
they never made an ax4, you either had a 4cyl with an ax5 or a 6cyl with an ax15 or you could use a dakota bell housing to mate the ax15 to the 4cyl
freakjeep93
wrong they very much did make an ax 4 it is the non OD version of a ax
huck731
clutch job is finished. with the help of my stepdad and uncle the lend a few extra hands and tell me what to do, the new clutch was installed and the truck back together in right around 4.5 hours. that makes me wonder why it takes the "pro's" at the dealership 4 hours and this was the first time I have ever done a clutch and slave cylinder. what size/type of bit do I need to get the trans fluid fill/check hole open? JT31
wrong they very much did make an ax 4 it is the non OD version of a ax 5 my bad, i knew about the 4speed but i didnt know it was called the ax-
huck731
ya, it's basically a peice of junk, interstates are my worst enemy if I want good fuel mileage. I can't wait to throw in an ax-5 w/ t-case.
huck731
well the new clutch/slave combo seem to be working just fine. my next investment will probably be new rear u-joints as my uncle said they are starting to show signs of going bad (I trust him, he has been an ase certified trans tech for over 10 15 years now) but maybe I'll find a decent set of rims at the junkyard or CL for cheep to throw some bigger snow/mud tires on. huck731
so two weeks after I put the new clutch in and she's still runnin' like a top. fuel mileage is going up, having a clutch again instead of jammin' gears like a 16 year old in a 18 speed big rig is alot better on fuel.....whoda thunk it . can't wait for the holday season to be over so I can have money again so I can start buying material at work for the rocker channels and the light bar I want to make. huck731
yes, the PO put that on there. no clue why, I have the xj front bumper with 0 surface rust on it sitting next to my garage. I'm not that big a fan though, bumper overriders look terrible imo.

huck731
well I burried the darn thing in the snow last night, tried to turn at an intersection but the truck decided it wanted to go straight..... buried right to the axles, had to get a tow out, good thing I have roadside assistance
huck731
well, I decided last night that I need to invest in a new front bumper instead of a rear. I was taking some money to my roomate who was at the bar and the parking lot was pure ice. needless to say a decorative pole (an old tele pole cut into smaller sections) wanted to become friends with my bumper and in the process of the less than 5 mph bump, bent my bumper AND my new euro plate. :fs1:
neohic
Euro plate? Man, you ARE a VW guy! :laughin: Sorry to hear about the bumper though.
huck731
just a bit, lol. when I get the bench seat I am going to have it recovered in the plaid cloth interior they used in the mkv (mark 5 ((gen 5))) golf gti. I going to get a diy front bumper kit from JCR, I'm assuming the xj fronts are the same as the mj.

You should make up a boser hood for it too! Don't forget to roll the fenders.
