Major Trans problem this morning.(edit again- rear axle)

Here's the junkyard's return policy: "No returns, no exchanges, no exceptions." I know. It sucks. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do just yet, I thought about just putting it in, but I don't want it to leave me stranded somewhere. I've got a little time to think about it, so we'll see.

Yah, I wouldnt drive that down the road. If that thing locks up when you are cruising at 50 there are lots of things that could happen to you and your MJ, its not worth risking either one.

 

Pop the cover next time before you walk away from a yard with a diff. The one I buy from stands behind their stuff...

yeah that's some junk right there that the JY won't help you out. My picknpull does 30 days.

From the other tooth wear and the damage visible I'd say the pinion bearing went on that one.

On the plus side, you now have an available core. :D Steal any usable stuff and bite the bullet to get another. You wouldn't be the first to make the mistake of not checking the innards of a junkyard axle. I'm also guilty of that. :( It's an expensive way to learn a lesson, but I have learned that lesson and will always pop them open first (or make them do it).

This is the best way to go!!

I would NOT use this axle for anything but parts.... Its only wasting your time.

 

Take out the axles GREAT SPARES!! Part it out and throw the parts on EBAY. You won't get all your money back.... but you'll make that sour taste in your mouth a bit sweeter.
