jonb8
Are club is got a trip planned to the Black Mountain Adventure Area in Harlan Ky in late April. I was gonna take my xj and run the easy trails, but I got to thinking how much fun it would be to take something I could try anything with and not feel bad if it came home in pieces. :brows: I bought an old 94xj in a cow field but it was too far gone so I found this Mj with no title for scrap price. jonb8
This is not gonna be a high dollar build, it's just a beater that I'm throwing together with spare parts and bailing wire... :wrench: I dove'd the front and bobbed the rear frame and bed, I'm using a xj 8.25 welded in the rear and an open 30 in the front out of the parts xj. Got the doorless mod done yesterday...
johnny quest
how hard was it to do the bed-bob, and how long did it take??
jonb8
Dang, the spring over in the rear gave me way to much lift.. :( I guess I'll try a 3 in xj AAL and a longer shackle. I've done 2 of these before and I've never seen this much lift. Does anyone know if the front coils are longer on an mj too, cause the one's I took off this mj is the same diameter but 1 1/2 longer than a set of stock xj's I had laying around? jonb8
how hard was it to do the bed-bob, and how long did it take?? I just have a grinder/cutoff wheel and a sawsall and I got about 8 hrs in it. It takes longer to measure it all out than to cut.

jonb8
Please save the interior for the guys here. They love the black stuff. I will, It's all coming out today so I can swap all the HO wiring from the 94xj into it. It all seems to be in great shape, carpet looks good. Seat has no rips or tears, the headliner board is there but the felt is gone.

jonb8
Wow that's a long pull from WI, this will be my first trip. We went down last month on a pre trip and to check stuff out, but we didn't get much time on the trail. I did see enough to know I wanted to put something alittle more capable/expendable together... :D
89eliminator
yeah it was about 12 hours each way. worth the trip though.
jonb8
Fixed the floors yesterday and got the carpet back in, the 94 column and the auto shifter and cables in. Gonna be 79 degree's today so I'm taking the day off and heading for the woods. Time to go beat on the xj a little and have some fun..
jonb8
Nothing really picture worthy has happened in the last few day's. Been working on wiring, the gas tank, mounting the battery in the bed and installed the HO motor and trans.
jonb8
I got all the wiring done, drivetrain in, battery and gas tank in but no runny, runny. I got a fuel delivery problem, no fuel on the rail. I got a new fuel pump in yesterday but that wasn't it, so I'm picking up a new regulator today. Hope to drive it out of the garage this week...
jonb8
It finally leaves the garage, but 2 weeks wasn't bad for changing everything in the jeep, plus mods.... :D Still gotta build a winch bumper, front shocks, tube doors and shorten the rear driveshaft. jonb8
Didn't get much done this weekend but mowing and weedeating, but I did get all the jeeps fired up and moved around front so I could mow around the garage. It was good to see them all lined up and running at the same time.... The little red 2dr is my wifes mud racer, 4in lift and 4.6 stroker, The teal one is are trail rig on 35 Wranglers, The little red 4dr is 2wd with a 355 SBC and then there's the mj I'm building now.. jonb8
Got the rollbar in, bad pulley and trackbar changed, front bumper done, all the welding and painting done and the CB installed. Battery's are dead in the camera or I'd have got some pics.. :D
jonb8
Well I've had some victory and some stuff I couldn't get done, but I'm leaving for Harlan in the morning so it's done for now. I didn't get the half doors done but there close, and I didn't get a winch because a set of Q buckshots popped up for sell that I wanted worse and couldn't afford both. I'll post pics when I get back here's some pics of shake down yard wheeling
jonb8
The MJ did great at Harlan, I wasn't sure at first but by the end of the weekend I loved the 112in wheelbase. I didn't brake anything but the rockers took some damage and I had a fuel delivery gremlin that kept popping up.
jonb8
The club just set a date for Harlan in April so I gotta dig the mj out of the brush and finish what I didn't do last year. I did put a 4.6 stroker in it in the spring and did some hill in the hole racing with it... Jumps great... This winter I'm gonna put a full cage in, racing seats, move the radiator to rear and put a 8274 warn winch were the radiator is, front locker and tube doors.
