Went out and bought myself a chain saw. Got tired of muscling dads old Husqvarna 50 for smaller jobs. I bout a huskie 235, with a 16inch bar. smaller saw for smaller clearing trails limbs. etc. I took it out for the first time and cut with it, and it didnt use any bar oil. Adjusted chain and tried again. It wouldnt keep the chain tight or lube the bar. Any ideas why? I took it back and got it exchanged. I havent had a chance to cut with the new one yet but hopefully it doesnt have the same problem.

Ran into the same problem working at my last job ("Landscapist" they call it. :shake: ) and I couldn't figure out why. The explanation I got from another guy I worked with was that something was blocking the port the lube came out from to oil the chain. Not really sure why the chain kept jumping off the track, but the chainsaw had about 7 long years on it too... so that could probably explain it.

Make sure the area between the bar and the housing is clean, Make sure the two nuts holding the bar are tight. Check the bottom pully for flowing oil. A new chain will stretch and require frequent adjustments at first. Don't force the saw into the wood.Let it draw itself in. Husqvarna is the best made, You're not gonna beat it.

should have bought a Stihl....lol... My little Echo has a screw that adjusts the flow of bar oil. It's not easy to see unless your really looking for it. It's also very sensative. I would check the owners manual and see if it has any thing like that.

This was true about 4-5 years ago; not anymore. The smaller models are farmed out "offshore". Only certain models (the larger very expensive models) are still made in Scandinavia.

I have a Husky 345 I think. Bought it 3 years ago for $300 at a power equip store. It is a great saw and I haven't had any problems with the chain loosening any more than normal stretch. However the oil is a huge issue with this saw. If you are cutting certain types of wood that clog the saw up the very small oiler hole gets plugged within minutes. I have to constantly take the bar off and clean inside for the saw to get the proper oil to the bar. There was also a recall on a lot of huskys around the time I bought it for the oil pump. 1 year after buying the saw I had to take it in for warranty repair.

I've got 7 chain saws sitting on the shelf. The last one I bought was 14 years ago. Had a contract to clear 400 acres in New Mexico for a saw mill. Ain't familiar with modern junk. LOL. Got Husky, Stihl, and McCulloch. Guess I'll just keep rebuilding the old but reliable instead of buying a new one.
