75sv1 Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 I have an 89MJ,the engine is from a 90 XJ I have a set from an '88. I hear there are differences. Unless someone confirms otherwise, then I think you need to match year to year. I don't think the motor changed much if any from 87 to 90. Also the other posters price if very good. Same year as yours. I'd probably snag it. Tom
Geonovast Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 AFAIK, the only difference between 87-90 harnesses is that the 87 might not have a ballast resistor. Also, again not 100% on this, but I think that the XJ and the MJ used different firewall plugs to connect to the dash harness.
jimoshel Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 I couldn't find a '87 with a ballast resistor. From '84 to '89 the plugs are the same, that is they will interchange. Don't know about the pins having the same function tho.
