Druville Posted July 25, 2011 Share Posted July 25, 2011 Its been a long long time Comanche club, far too long if you ask me. Well i got me a 88 2wd 4.0 a long while back in 2006. Since then I dern near drove the wheels off of it even after a drunk pulled out in front of me and made me hit him, then he backed up and drove off. Well I had the classic ba10 leaky clutch master cyl and general junkiness and that dissolved the wireing harness at the fuse box so that got repaired and an ax-15 and new clutch swapped in! Then I had a brake line pop when moving a fallen tree and i drove it through a fence, things don't slow down much without brakes; and after many attempts with crappy autozone flair tools i parked the truck and got something nearly new with a heafty payment(biggest mistake ever!). I had way to much time, money, memories in the jeep to sell it, and it just has too much character to get rid of so I kept it Fast forward to yesterday when I was surfing craigslist. I found a white 95 xj 4.0l 4wd 5spd counrty edition with the same tan interior color. Everything Ive always wanted to do all in one inexpensive package. I can't wait to start swapping bolts over the next few weeks. All that's left is everything, master cyld/booster and proportioning valve upgrade, front clip, and 4wd conversion. then power windows with baller the status wood grain door panels, full center console, bucket seats. Somewhere in there I want to paint it to match my BIG "jeep" my Kaiser-Jeep m35a2 deuce and a half. Now to everyone's favorite part....PICTURES!!! This is how it was about an hour after i got it home. and removed the cracked up grill and put on some extra light btw the topper removed itself going around a corner on my way out of my college's parking lot like it was trying out for the ultimate Frisbee team. This is how it looks after all these years here is my, doors in the back, seatless parts truck with a fancy bumper tuck mod the paint scheme inspiration! if only i could bring myself to make a sweet removable soft top for the MJ too. Finally a touch of redneck kentucky style photoshop. Little proof of concept of how cool jeeps look camo. Just cut out the windows and go. Druville Posted July 26, 2011 Author Share Posted July 26, 2011 yea i was playing with the idea of trading in my over priced junky 05 pathfinder dd for a brand new jeep. but then i realized that i wouldnt be able to have fun with it and well i love my old MJ its earned a refresher. I get about an hour of daylight perday to work on it and weekends so its going to be awhile but I'm already getting all that folded sheet metal off. I so missed all these cuts on my hands and grease under my nails. damn i missed this hobby. That camo comanche looks awesome, can't wait for mine to be camo and some ramps build so i can put it in the back of the big jeep they will look awesome together. Druville Posted July 28, 2011 Author Share Posted July 28, 2011 Progress! sorta the bumper was a bit too bent to get to the bolts so i convinced it too be a bit less bent end of the day state. i forgot how jeep loves to put bolts in stupid hard to reach places. but fortunately rust wasn't an issue due to a severe oil leak i never fixed. spent most of the day trying to get the damn track bar loose. now only 6 bolts hold the axle in! friday or saturday i will hopefully have the 4wd axle under the manche Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Druville Posted August 1, 2011 Author Share Posted August 1, 2011 got a little bit done, my donor vechile haveing 344k miles and me having barely enough tools and none of that fancy air tool stuff, is really slowing me down. the 102-106 degree heat indexes havent been helping much either lol. got some stuff in the mail! lift shackles got them a bit stripped to start the day got the axle out after much sweat and blood and anger because of the lower image this is the dumbest idea ever these stupid things make me mad i hate em such a pain when the bolt is heavily rusted like on my donor vehicle soaked in pb for days and reall didnt want to come out still Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Druville Posted August 6, 2011 Author Share Posted August 6, 2011 It has a new axle! which was no fun at all, I'm working on a spot that's not exactly level that combined with the new 2inch spacers made getting the lower control arms bolted up a real fight. strained my arm and my buddy back fighting it in but we got her done. i didnt like having to finally call in backup but trying to get it in place and on a jack then lined up in the grass/mud(damn kentucky rain) proved to be more than i like to tackle. and btm i have air tools at my disposal but no compressor large enough that i can get to the back field lol I'm working about 150yards from the house and all its illustrious power. i do have a generator but with current fuel prices ill just save my money and spend my cursing. and hick92 i loled at yours don't you love it when things work out like that. i had one with an old chevy truck i was trying to pull a stump and i thought i had it cut through for the most part so i hooked up the chain pulled on it and nothing happened, then i put some slack in it to shock the stump and get it loose, well sadly both stump and bumper/hitch were stronger than my arms, and long story short the windshield can hit ya pretty hard. lol lessons learned the hard way i guess. now i just use my deuce and a half, low range first gear with all 10 tires bitting. stumps have no chance. Druville Posted August 8, 2011 Author Share Posted August 8, 2011 well i was feeling lazy today so rather than do anything worthwhile i decided to make it look better. maybe itll give up its pieces better not that its all pretty again. its amazing what an ol country boy can do with a big hammer, some vice grips, and some big adjustable pliers. in this picture nothing is bolted on just held in to see where my fit issues would be and to see it in one piece again hasnt looked like that since 2007 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
