I'm adding a Blackjack header to my '88 4.0, but the EGR tube will not match up. I took a section out of the middle, cut another pipe to use as a sleeve for the cut ends and need to weld it in place. I only have a small O2/MAPP gas set up and was wondering if JB Weld would work instead. They fit pretty tight and the pieces overlap by at least 3/4 of an inch.

Deleting the tube is not an option, CA smog inspections.

Don't see why not.

Just asking because their web site says up to 500 degrees and not recommended for exhaust. I don't know how hot the EGR tube gets.

Pretty freaking hot. And if it specifies not to use on exhaust right on it... Why are we here? :D

Get it placed how you want it, and have the local muffler guy weld it up for you. Toss him a 10, and forget about it.

I agree - JB Weld won't hold for long. I'd get it brazed or if you have a torch, silver solder it. Either way will work and last.

Nice work! Easier off the car. FWIW, I tried the JW and it failed, miserably, after I put my header on. You had a lot of room to work! After mine failed, I got some stainless steel flexible tube from a source (exhaust for gas powered model airplanes) and clamped it on both sides. Worked well. Really annoying exhaust leak from the rigged tubes.

Thanks for flexible tube source.

I was the picture of safety  :t-shirt, shorts, sandals in the bed of one MJ under a tarp (had to block the wind), but I did have my mask on
