Hey guys, my driver's door lock cylinder crapped out on me and I've got a new set. Standard part #DL22

The new one is very different then the original, not even close for the connecting rod pieces. Anyone else run into this dillema? After searching through here very thoroughly, I cannot find a "self help solution". Here's a pic of the new and old cylinders with the connecting piece

I've gotten this lock cylinder set from Amazon. Both Amazon and Rock Auto Parts list this as the proper replacement. Anyone out there who can help?!

I ran into this problem. When I bought my truck the PO told me the door locks were broken and gave me the same door locks that you bought. They obviously will not work. So I ended up sucking it up and ordered a OEM set from teamcherokee.com. They were expensive, I think like 40 bucks for the set with keys and they worked perfect. I just checked their site and they are out of stock right now. I guess the other option is getting some from the junk yard if you can find one that has the keys.

Thanks M1A1TankerTom, words that I was hoping not to be confirmed. Isn't it strange that more than one reliable site would say that it is compatible? TeamCherokee being out of stock was the main reason I had to try some other places. No go for me with a wrecking yard nearby.

Will have to send back and try another brand I guess.

Plan C would force me to get a complete set off of a '98 Cherokee(I think I read somewhere) that would allow me to have one single key for doors and ignition.

Still open to any suggestions or help, maybe the rod connector that matches the Standard lock cylinders, but what yr and model?

That appears to be a lock cylinder for a later XJ/ZJ, when they put the factory alarms in em, because it has the nipple on the back for the lock position sensor.

Check your local auto parts store, they usually have several common lock cylinders in stock. I'll check tomorrow when I go in to work.

Just go to the parts store, and ask for lock cylinders for an 89ish chevy truck. (That's where our ignition switches and door locks came from, as well as steering column and everything on it/in it.) I would think that will get the job done for ya!)

Please let us know if you find something to work. My doors haven't been locked in 10 years. Not much to steal in there, but would be nice to have the option of locking.

Chevy lock cylinders are different, also that crown number does not cross under anything in our E catalog, ill dig into some paper catalogs when I get a chance.

Are you sure? It's a chevy steering column, and chevy keys for the ignition and the door locks. I don't see why they would use chevy keys, just to design their own lock cylinder.

My friend faced this similar problem with their truk's lock. He get new one from near store and replace old lock cylinder. Any expert lock smith can do that easily.

My suggest to repair from lock smith who charge little bit commission against their services.
