1989 value

I bought my first comanche in Jan. 1989 4.0 5 spd Pukgut air, tilt, cd player, full gages, 189000 mi, everything works and there is no rust.

I mean no rust, I even pulled the carpet where there was just a little surface rusting which I fixed. Those folks in Joplin are hurting and am thinking of donating it to the cause down there. I think I may have overpaid for it at 1500, considering I had to replace the windshield at 350 bucks. I cannot find a value guide going back that far. Considering all the cleaning repainting, and fixing of little items, I was thinking of declaring a value of about 2000 for it for IRS purposes, which would be what I have in it after 6 mo of ownership..

I would appreciate any comments if you guys think that is reasonable.....I posted pics when I joined the club.

A declared value of $2500 - $3000 seems very reasonable to me providing it is in rust free condition. I would add $1000 if it were 4wd.

I would try to sell it then donate the money. I would think the trucks more needed there are the big ones. As for price, I would think you could get 2k from what the condition is. I am going to be in KC next week and was trying to figure out if I could get down there for a day and help.

Yeah, but whom would it go to? Someone who would greatly appreciate the gift? Or someone who never had a car to begin with and is only using the tragedy to mooch free stuff? If it were me, and I wanted to give that bad, I would drive there, find a family that was hard up, and tell them you have me and my truck for a week. I will help in anyway I can.

One way to set a price.

In 1979 I wrecked my '65 GTO convertable. Insurance was offering me $950 and I keep the car. My claim that it was a classic and a collector fell on deaf ears. I went to the local Chevy dealer, the Big A auto parts store owner and the NAPA store manager. I got a written offer for $3000 for the car from all 3 of them. The insurance paid. It was a small town where every body knew everybody. Something to think about.
