CS-17 Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Ha ha! Bravo to all those guys! Notice most of them (at least according to the news captions) were farmers are lived among them; that's how we get things done! Good old machine power and imagination.
87Warrior Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Wow. Some of those structures are impressive! Water is powerful stuff. I hope the water let's up... Not a good thing the Midwest is getting pounded with rain, which will end up down there sooner than later.
mvusse Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 They featured a farmer last week or two weeks ago who excavated his corn field to build a dam around his house using a bulldozer and track hoe he owned. If the water disappears fast enough he hoped to maybe still be able to plant soybeans to at least make some money off his land. Ho worked non stop for 47 hours building his dam. He says the lost crop may be $30k, His house costs $300k.
1990 Pioneer 4x4 Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 CNN interviewed this owner a week ago. He began it (hired some folks to make his mote/island) before the flood even threatened that area, and his neighbors thought he was crazy at the time.
