37" dog guard tires

Recommended Posts

I decides to not buy 36" super swapper used for 320 because still gotta buy other tires that suitable on road.

I found good deal 37" tires from threadwright for about 140 dollars each. It's doggaurd M/T tires.

Before buy it, would it fit under my jeep with 6" lift? I doubt tho but I'm sure there will be some require to trim fender up

I'm running 35" Kuhmo MT's on my MJ with @ 6" lift.......rears are fine but I need to (bumpstop correctly) and trim my front fenders more FWIW. Those Gaurd Dog's have some pretty thick lugs and I'd imagine would be worse than my Kuhmo's.

On a related note, I've been running the Gaurd Dogs in 31" flavor on my TJ, and I love them. I just rotated them yesterday after 6K miles and they are still brand new. When the Kuhmo's wear out on the MJ, it will be getting a set of Dogs.

You might want to check on availability before you order and plan accordingly.....I had to wait almost a month to get the 31's.

trimming is going to depend on your axle width(s) and wheel size/backspacing. I'm running 12.5's on 10" D-slots (which doesn't help me but the wheels were freebies 8) ). My 31's on the TJ are true to size, and I'd expect the 37's to be pretty darn close to 37".

I need to cut the fronts and raise the flares up to the horizontal body line on the fender (and bumpstop) to get the most out of the suspension. Right now, I have not-so-much in the front

Hmm my axles r wider than factory's for sure. my axles r from full size 78'-79' ford bronco.

I'm sure gotta to get bumpstop and trimming like your method. :wrench:

my current tires and wheel are 10" wide, 15" rims with 31" unknown brand of tires and 5x5.5 offset

The only MJ/XJ I have seen that cleared 37" tires pretty well with <7" lift ran full width axles. But since you run them also, I think you might be okay. You'll still have to trim the fenders and/or bump stop, though.

i'm runnin' 36x14x15 inch super swampers and i can turn lock to lock, the only rub i get is on the very bottom on the fender flair on the driver side, i had to cut, not alot but a bit, i used 90 style chevy pickup fender flairs, works pretty well if you ask me

Sean, I really don't think you need tires that big. Sure, you have the axle for it, but as I have often said,

"Just because your hung like a moose doesn't mean you have to do porn."

Besides, not only are you going to have to deal with gears, bump stops, wheels, but I imagine the drive line will need some beefing up also... On another note, were you the one with the homebrew longarms mounted to the shifty looking crossmember? If so, I would be worried about fixing those first. That and gears... I wouldn't put bigger meats on until you have the gears to handle them first.

If you have to do tires first, I would think 33's would be a good jumping off point for you... Nice sized tire, can be found reasonably cheap, and won't tax the engine as bad as 37's in the meantime.

thats what my other side concern but i just want o buy tires once than twice.

which thats why i wanty to buy 35" or larger just once but only found a good deal is 37" tires.

i need new shoes before able drive it around. but don't want to buy it twice. I'm poor college guy.

not sure if my cross member is like what your talk about?

is this one that your talking about? its my skid armor/cross member bolt up with long arm.

off point: i heard about 16.5" begin not safe while in low psi for offroad because they r tend to allow tires pop off because of their bead seat shallow angle tapered? :dunno:

i decided to not buy it- reasons:

-having hard time to find 16.5" with 5x5.5 and good price

-not mood to trim alot and spend more on bumpstop

-don't want to stress on drivetrain and powertrain

-too big for my prefered

-etc.

so do you guys know any links that are good deal for 35 or 36" with rims come in 5x5.5?

I think your crossmember and arms is exactly what he was talking about, that's a sketchy looking home made lift.

btw its not exactly a crossmember its skid armor like 14-10G thick of steels welded together.

its pretty heavy duty to me and other who looked at it in person.

Do you often say that?

Yep, along with:

Yep, that be the one I was thinking about... You don't even have a joint there, its just a bolt through some square stock... Sketchy.

what kind joint your talk about? its have bushing(poly) in it. and not just bolts, it come with nipple for greasing.

edit: the clamp on axle from arm is same design from Stock arm on bronco. mine is just little longer i think. Pete, help me :)

ill find a better picture of the joint from arm to skid armor

so far i can find is this.

itsw look similar to aftermarket LCA expect its square tube.

Those arms are half of a stock Ford radius arm with square tube welded to it and a bushing.

I would imagine the truck probably flexed better stock.

it would be true but i havent flex yet. ASAP after get tires, metal wedge, draglink and track bar then I'm ready to flex

i remeber when i was using hilift on front end. its took me almost full way up on hilift to get one side 31" tire off the ground

edit: check this link out, one of those arms are similar to mine expect ford radius.

http://www.atozfabrication.com/store/Je ... e-Kit.html

I'm sure that skid armor from my picture is custom made to allow use this arm on my MJ

edit: if its didnt flex well then i can remove those arms and get stock radius arm and get someone weld beefy bracket then bolt it up.
