knever3 Posted March 30, 2011 Share Posted March 30, 2011 Ok, things I've noticed: They use the old style pre-'97 HVAC controlls They use much better interior materials akin to the Grand Cherokee here The tail lights rock, look like a Durangos The front end is classy, should have been how the Comander would have been but it was too big and expensive They use a DIN radio opening, America take note, this IS the world standard size!!! Not that stupid DIN and a half so nothing fits just right. Mirrors are better and fold. The wheel choices are nice They use the OLD style rear hatch, hinges, and tail light assemblies The front axle spring perches look different, so is there a Dana 44 there?? The front end bumper transition to the fender flares look a TON better than the post '97 versions. And that's probably not all, just some. Ok, loose the 2.5 and what about the 2.4?? No Dana 44 thats a 2WD axle or D30. That 2WD also has a transfer case skid and tow hooks! HA! They also use the older style gas tank instead of the plastic one like the 97+ uses. The 2.5 that we know and sorta love was used in the first few years in china, but then was dropped in favor of a mitsubishi engine and a chinese made engine: They use the older 94- style of seats, and the 96- style of door latches and doors(while updating to the single solid front window: Some of the models have brushed AL looking interior trim, which I think looks classy: They use a 5x5 8.25 rear end with disk brakes, that has a wierd looking hub that has led some to speculate that they are semi or full float rears: The Jeep 2500 is such a weird combination of old new and other parts that I see something new every time I look at those pictures, and many things are the type of thing only the trained eye can pick up on. I agree, that pisses me off to no end. The Kj controls have an AC button, but on defrost and floor settings the compressor gets turned on automatically, luckily we figured out how to bypass it so that ONLY the AC button turns on the AC.
