SubSonic
I used a semi-gloss (semi-matte) after I straightened my rear bumper, it looks OEM.

SubSonic
I'm going to guess rustoleum... (I'm certified in paint and body, have the tools and still using a can, what can I say? :brows: ) but I'll tell you for certain when I get back to the shop tomorrow. Make sure you sand, prep, and prime... as that will insure whatever you go with sticks. Also being on the rear of the car, it's less prone to rock chips. I've used a different semi-gloss on the front bumper of my XJ, same results, no chipping. I'll tell you exactly what brands when I can go look at the can, but in reality, semi-gloss is pretty uniform, what your looking for is something that will adhere well. LambertLambert
This thread is perfectly timed for me. I just got my factory original bumper back from the refinisher, and I got it painted semi gloss black. Now I need to paint the plastic ends. The PO painted them and the paint is coming off. I've read people recommend brake fluid to remove the paint. Is that what y'all would recommend? Thanks! Allen
Dirteatr717
Just use acetone, brake fluid eats everything!
LambertLambert
Thanks for that! Acetone it is.
SubSonic
x2 on the acetone, then some plastic polish/back to black in the case that they are lightly chalked. And to the OP, I can't find what I used exactly... but any decent semi-gloss will look just fine.
