rear wheel trimming helppppp

Recommended Posts

I trimmed my front fine, after looking at the rear i could use some help or pics/write-ups.

It seems to have the double layered metal deal and i don't want to trim it and have that seperate and peel apart from eachother, any issues with this?

and please don't give me the same reply i got on JeepForum... "why are you trimming?" lol

I think this has been discussed recently, but yes, there is a potential issue.

The spot welds that secure the outer sheet metal to the inner wheel well

are within 1/2" of the edge. Find a way to re-secure these parts together

(crimp or new spot-welds, or some other means) and all will be well.

Do the "cut and fold" method. (photos below show the process on an XJ, but it's identical on your MJ) You simply cut vertical slots in the fender to the body line, and fold them in. That way your not separating the 2 panels.

Here is our MJ shown with the cut and fold method with a TJ flare. If you look close you can see that we didn't go back the body line when we mounted the flare. That's a 35" tire on a 6.5" lift (SOA).

Is that what you were looking for?
