The ViperClub of America (of which I am a paying member) has been given permission to raffle off the very last SRTRam QC ever to be made. The last one off the line - period! Not only that, but it's a one-of-400 built "Night Runner" packages. There will only be 2750 tickets sold so the highest odds of winning are 1:2750. This is a raffle benefiting our club so, like with any raffle, the winner will be responsible for taxes and any shipping fees. The coolest thing about this raffle is that its the first time the club is allowing non-members to participate so this means anyone can join in the fun! Tickets are 1 of $100 or 3 for $250. My Dakota R/T isn't all that shiny (it's a truck after all, why the hell would I polish it?) and it will always be at the factory ride height (although that is an inch lower than regular Daks). On the other hand, I don't haul much with it these days (though I used to when it was my only driver) and I try to keep the miles down. The biggest reason I went with a fast truck over a fast car is durability (and maybe a bit of looks). My truck is wicked fast, but it's also built tougher than any modern car. That's why I love fast trucks. I get to accelerate like a bat outta hell, but I never have to worry about pulling into driveways and I laugh at car-eating potholes! HaHa! :D Plus she's smaller than a fullsize with stiff springs and massive sway bars (that "bars", plural) so she whips around corners like a 'vette. I like to accelerate quickly in EVERY direction, not just straight ahead. :D I need to do something about the dang Scorcher tires though. They suck as far as performance goes. How are the Dodge sport trucks for towing? The GMC Syclone maxed out at 500 lbs in the bed. Pete, I couldn't find the Scorchers on BFG's website. Are they discontinued? Still wasn't as fast as my Lightning but i think if he'd been intercooled it would've been. He's since sold the truck but i'll see if i can get him to e-mail me a pic. Sport trucks are cool, best of both worlds in my opinion. They SUCK in anything that resembles cold weather (and by that I mean they are downright DANGEROUS). I've seen them for sale on eBay though, so maybe they are still available down south and out west. The "Sport" option package really doesn't have anything to do with performance - it's an appearence/option upgrade. The "SRT" package comes in two flavors: Reg and QC. The reg cab is a V10/6spd with a top speed of 154mph and is a fair hauler. The 6spd isn't the best for towing or heavy weights. The QC (which is offered here) has max towing options - it is a hauler. The raffle truck was signed by everyone on the production line and coem with certification from DCX. As for the lightning thing all I can say is - whatever. The offical lightning 1/4 time was 13.8 - the SRT QC is 14.2. The SRT QC is a V10 four door truck with a class 3 hitch, the lightning was an F150 with a supercharger. But here's the thing - if you can find a lightning, or syclone, or 454SS for $100 with 0 miles and a full warranty then please don't let me stand in your way. Oizarod115 Posted December 17, 2006 Share Posted December 17, 2006 I'm with pete. if i was gonna have a fast car it'd either be a bigass musclecar... and we're talking actual metal musclecar from back in the day like the late 60s early 70s. with a gigantic v8. ooor a dakota or manche. i just can't see a fullsize truck performing as well in corners, and i love to as pete said "accelerate in all directiosn" not just forwards. Its not great at road racing - SRT Reg cab can only defeat the likes of Porsche boxters and 911s, NXSs, BMW 3 series, mustang GTs, and miatas. If you're looking for something with bettering handling you will have to stick with mid-size. If all goes well with my finacing I plan on racing an SRT ram in the Michellen Corvette challenge in 2009... I'd be in the blue group with super stock C4 vettes, stock C5s and prepared S2000s. This is a buddy of mine who races his stock (other than a bolt-on supercharger - no other mods) SRT ram in the NASA series at Hastings Park. There is a great vid somewhere of him slaughtering that SC acura in the first pic. Another friend ran an unoffical 3:02 at VIR in his QC. Oh... and no other truck is currently considered fast enough or track-safe enough to run NASA or VRL including Lightning or Syclone. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Oizarod115 Posted December 19, 2006 Share Posted December 19, 2006 alright, so the SRT can probably stomp a miata, and a mustang, and out handle an NSX. so some of those i can agree to. porsche 911.. i don't agree on that one the 911 runs a 3somethign 0-60 and a 70.7 slalom it tops out at 194mph that truck (while its slalom is REALLY impressive.) is much slower in 0-60 5something, and top speed is only 154. but it does run a 69.something slalom (couldnt find an exact number) pretty good slalom speed. but still not going to beat the porsche. i didnt look up the others though... the numbers on that truck really are impressive though, i couldn't beleive it when i saw it ran almost a 70mph slalom. What makes a great road racer is balance through the corners and torque for exiting the turn (decent brakes don't hurt either.) Don't get me wrong, the 911, 996, and 997 are all nice cars, but unless you do some serious modification they are not good road racers. If you can get close enough to a porsche in the corner there is nothing that driver can do but watch you pass after the apex (unless he wants to hit you of course.) Now if the striaghtaway is long enough the porsche might be able to rev you out by the end, but I don't see that often with a mostly stock car.
