once red
 Please help me with this. Both sides are like this, and if there wasn't any paint, there'd be no side!!!!! I see everyone praising this POR-15. Should I use it here?? I guess my first step is to remove flares, then cut out rust, then reinforce from backside, then ???? Thanks

jeepthing07
here are some pictures of how I'm fixing mine with cut outs from 2 door cherokee fenders, front fenders would probably work just as well. the fit its pretty nice but if the metal needs replaced the whole way around cherokee metal is not a direct fit. once red
Thanks for the pics. if I get a welder, I'll refer to them. I'm looking along the lines of that POR15, bondo I guess. :D
jeepthing07
I don't like bondo it holds moisture and just makes things alot worse in the long run. I used fiberglass resin jelly on the doors of my old CJ7 and its holding up well. you can buy it about anywhere and its for marine use for boats and stuff. Pete M
I cut out the bad stuff, painted the edge, covered the gap with aluminum, then painted it red. Simple and easy. :D
Kenosha Warrior
I'm ordering a big-assload of POR-15 and a few rolls of Duct tape to do my wheel wells, some silicone and sheet metal too.
once red
Thanks guys for the info and pics  . Guess I'll have to just deal with it after I look how bad it is after removing the flares.
CWLONGSHOT
Its not the wheel well, but you get the idea. its much like pete's!! My rear wheel wells where rusted thru as well. i just removed the flairs. Cut out the cancer. Moved the flairs up and re-installed!! CW
aemsee
I wish someone made a repair panel for our trucks. The rust on my new one isn't too bad yet, But I want to fix it right. Fortunately the panels are fairly straight in that area so I think cutting and welding in patch panels shouldn't be too tough to do. We need to find some company that will stamp out whole and partial bed sides.
