AMC-MJ Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Truck normally idled at 750rpm, now its idling at 850-950rpm and it still has a slight shake n shimmy at idle . . . New parts: air filter, plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. Last tune up I used the cheap stuff, silver cap n rotor kit, econo wires, and autolight copper plugs, Ran great for 7,000ish miles then picked up the rough idle and sluggishness. This tune up I used the gold cap n rotor kit, premium wires, and busch Fusion +4 plugs, Starts faster and has noticeably more power better fuel mileage, but still not what it. Was, Still has the rough idle and some sluggishness. Truck has been checked 5-7 times for vac leaks and have found none . . . 9K miles on fuel pump, 5K miles on fuel filter, Map sensor, TPS, and O2 sensor. Mike
freakjeep93 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 have you checked your injector? hows fuel pressure?
AMC-MJ Posted December 31, 2010 Author Posted December 31, 2010 Idle air control valve, what is it ? Where is it ? Got anyphotos ? Mike
bottomline89 Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 idle air control valve is on your throttle body.. take it out and clean it, see if that helps, carefull with the liquids its easy to break it. if that doesnt help check your pcv or ccv valves and grommets depending on your engine. if those don't help then check all of your vacuum lines and gaskets (intake, exhaust)
AMC-MJ Posted December 31, 2010 Author Posted December 31, 2010 Oh oops sorry its the AMC-2.5 TBI . . . Ok so its in or on the TB ? ? ? Mike
bottomline89 Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 I'm not completely sure about the 2.5 but it should be on the tb and look like this http://i.ebayimg.com/16/!By5RhJQB2k~$(K ... g~~_35.JPG
AMC-MJ Posted January 1, 2011 Author Posted January 1, 2011 So locate the unit you posted above, remove it clean it up nice and re-install it ? Then if it still runs the same check along the intake/exhaust to head for leaks ? Mike
bottomline89 Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 yes.. be careful with the gasket on the unit.. if its old you might just want to replace it. and its happened to me so MAKE SURE you don't have any other vacuum leaks, this might help http://oljeep.com/gw/vac/90/1990_2.5L_vac.jpg
