What part is this?

I found this hiding under the seat of a Cherokee I bought for parts. I think it is a knock sensor but I'm not sure.

Yep. Looks like a knock sensor to me too.

Looks nothing like a knock sensor. Knock sensors don't have a pigtail and have a plug that looks like an injector plug.

 

Looks to me like a reverse light switch for the transmission.

Geonovast is right again... For an AX15, P/O must have bought it by mistake seeing as how the AW4 reverse switch was new on the trans.

While it may have been found "in" a renix jeep, it was under the seat and not attached to anything. Therefore, it could be from anythnig or anywhere, and not necessarily a part for this particular vehicle.

Yes it is. It's pretty common for the outer casing to break off like that.
