I have been looking for a non-running MJ as a project vehicle for a while and I believe I found a good candidate. I am stilling waiting back for more information from the seller.

From the pictures the paint looks faded, no visible rust, and the interior looks great. The only issue is that running engine needs some work. Really cheap price too, which is good for me because the project is planned to strip the entire truck, install 1997+ XJ interior/exterior, repaint, and put a V8 in it.

What else should I look for? I am thinking frame and wheel well rust. Remember, I am going to be tossing a lot of the interior and drive train, so I am really only concerned with items that would make it worthless or impractical to fix up.

P.S. I am new here. :D

I'll second the rust. Mine is in AZ, but I've seen what kind of rusty surprises have been found on "rust-free" trucks. These trucks tend to rust from the inside out.

If the interior (and anything else, for that matter) is good, but not your style, PLEASE don't just toss it. There are are lots of guys here who need a specific piece, but it's either NLA from the dealer or prohibitively expensive.

By toss I meant toss on to Craigslist. :D Still waiting on the person to get back to me. I am getting concerned he sold it to some one else already!

always check for rust.

check the frame between the cab and bed, and around the rear spring hangers.

and check your floor boards and around the rear flares,

Ensure its a Comanche, then buy it!

I suppose that it one way of thinking about it! Basically the only big issue I have been told with out seeing it is the engine. He only wants $400 for it.
