Does this make any else's blood boil?

It started with traffic cameras at every intersection and now this just seems like the natural progression...

Personally, I have no problem with the cameras. It is not an invasion of privacy. It is recording what you are doing on a public roadway, like a police car with radar and dash cameras, and that recording is ONLY done if you do what is illegal, running a red light which can and does cause an accident, even death. It's not entrapment, for no one is doing something to try and get you do do what is illegal. I was almost T-boned while having a green light by an idiot running a red light because he thought he had the right, and my wife and kids were in the car, and he gave me the finger like I was in the wrong, and there is getting to be more and more of those who think this way.

Now, a GPS on your car by sneaking onto your private property because they "think" you might be doing something illegal? "Thought" police, huh? If they "think" you "might" be doing what is illegal, they can monitor you? That can apply to absolutely everyone, especially if you have had a ticket recently for speeding, etc. What was the Tom Cruise movie about arresting someone because they WERE going to commit a crime based on some "people" in a liquid bath?

I hate to be this guy on here....

Although I am a strong believer in voting and the people having the ability to change the country. I feel the way our current government is setup individual votes to not affect final decisions in law making.

But hey I'm not here to talk politics and I'm not trying to start any sort of arguments.

You're right. The Presidential race should be based on popular vote, and not by electoral votes. The way it's set up now, a winner is declared while the polls on the west coast are still open. It just doesn't make sense.

But I'm not here to talk politics either. :D

They way I see it - Don't do anything illegal and you won't have to worry about being tracked. 8)

I'm not too worried about that. What I am worried about is when the government/police THINK you are doing something illegal, can't prove it, but move against you with purely circumstantial, or fabricated evidence. Can you afford an attorney to fight bogus charges or have him fight pressure to turn snitch on someone or something you may know nothing about? The government needs to be reigned in as much as possible. It doesn't take a genius to see how it abuses the power it already has. ANY institution or person is likely to abuse the power they have - imagine that institution being very powerful and nearly unimpeachable. You try and sue a police officer for abridging your rights while on duty - they are protected by their department by federal precedent if they can remotely prove there was even confusion about the department policy. In other words, they have near impunity to harass you as it is. You empower them further at your own risk. Make them work for their convictions and they will file far fewer bogus charges and spend more time evidence gathering and less time harassing.

Speaking of reigning in government; when will we get anyone with the courage to start reversing the socialism now in place?

Certain people in office establish socialistic laws. People get mad and elect those who will not add socialist laws, but they leave the ones on the books in place. Then, certain people are elected again who add more socialism. People get mad and elect those who will not, but now we have more socialist laws in place than before, but none are reversed. And so, we become more and more socialist.

This is the plan of the socialists now in office: the more people they can get to rely on the socialist laws for their food, clothing, and shelter, there will be more people who will vote for those socialists and soon, socialism rules the land. That is where we are headed unless there is a major revolt that demands reversal of socialist laws and refuses to back down unless it is done. As I told a tea party person via email, "if the tea party is not willing to do this, then the tea party is a waste of time."

Where will we get enough people to have this courage? Is it maybe in the report that there is a rise in small business owners making a run for congress and senate because they know small business is the backbone of this nation? Maybe.

I am a socialis0t actually and I agree that there are some socialist laws in effect though not the correct ones. If looked at in perspective socialism could in fact work, though it would take a larger effort from the people/government officials to put in effect.

I look at the current government as a Capitalist empire which will do what ever it needs to survive, regardless of thee public out roar.

I'm not here to argue though just some friendly political chit chat.

Edit: I'm not 100% up to par on the Deceleration of Independence/Constitution (which willingly I admit I should be when talking politics) but is there not a part were it says when the the current government no longer works a revolt against said government should take place? Well something similar to that. I am not saying that we need to start a war against the government but the fact that the people truly have no say irritates me. I believe there is a "shadow government" in affect which makes all final decisions for the country no matter what is said/done. Thus why new religions are deemed "cults" that many times are taken down by federal officials when they gain strength in numbers. Thus why speaking/writing against the government publicly can lead you to jail time although we have "freedom of speech, freedom of press" yes in this country we do currently have many more rights for all then others do and we should all appreciate the rights we were given. Just I believe this country needs a major overhaul and the peoples individual thoughts and concerns should be more respected.

this is just my personal thoughts, you may disagree with me and I respect anything you have to say.

I think... For whatever reason, people seem to link socialism to a "big brother" type government. Now I am BY NO MEANS a socialist, but I this it is a common misconception fabricated by the media. Socialism is an economic system, not a type of government.

I however agree that Socialist laws need to be removed and fast. I also believe that these scary 1984 laws need to be addressed fast. These laws can be made by the same people, but socialists arent necessarily phychotic all powerful government types.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I tend to disagree. I have lived in Europe, and I work there often. I also intend to retire in France soon here. More socialized countries have more government overhead than capitalized countries do. A good example is the NHS vs our, uh, lack of NHS. The cost in administrating Britain's health care system for all 60 million of them is £2.14 billion per annum. That is ONLY the administrative costs. Of that, management alone is £808 million. Doctors absorb of majority of what's left. How many doctors are on US payrolls? How many would be if we go socialist?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/6890335/Spending-on-NHS-bureaucracy-up-50-per-cent.html

We would also need to raise taxes. Not just on the middle class, but specifically on the upper classes(which pay the least taxes of any 1st world country). As it is, if your money is earning money(VS your working a job to earn money), it is taxed at 15%, with many bonds being taxed at nothing. This is ignoring any other tax breaks specific to your investment sectors. I dunno about you guys, but I don't pay 15% in taxes, and haven't in a long time, especially since I have to have Social Security withdrawn from my check as well. In France, capital gains is at 33%. In England, 18%. I actually pay LESS income taxes in Europe than I do in the states, but that's another conversation altogether. Anywho - America does not tax their rich, investors, and are easy on corporations. They have to be, it's capitalist, verging on fascist support of industry and the rich. Europe supports their state and their people, we support our corporations, and whatever trickles down from that goes to the people...sometimes...

What's the point? The point is Socialism MUST be supported by more taxes and larger government compared to the US. The point is the US does not have the tax base to support socialism even in it's infant forms we see in Europe, let alone full blown Socialism. Things would have to change, and drastically so.

We'll also ignore the fact that the US also is Europe's de facto military - freeing them to spend that money on other endeavors while the 6th fleet and our ground administration and troops(90,000 of them permanently based throughout Europe) protects them at our expense http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Sixth_Fleet. This basically allows Germany, France, and the UK to spend less than half of their budgets than we do on their military.

To be fair, the last time I saw a doctor in France, I paid €25 for a 4 hour HOME visit and had no health insurance.

Back to your normal scheduled programming.
