Axel seal

Went to check my drivers side u joint and seen my Axel was leaking. Fluid on the lower ball joint. How do I fix this. Stock axels Dana 30s with 4:10s. I know upgrade just need to wait a little longer.

The seal is on the inner end of the tube. To replace it you have to remove the differential. Big job. If the axle is going to get replaced, just keep an eye on your fluid level.

its not a difficult job but time consuming. both axel have to come out and the carrier and ring gear to get access to the inner seal.

if the axle (both the fact that it's a dana 30 and that it has 4.10 gears) fits into your future plans, then this sounds like a great opportunity to upgrade the axle shafts to the later model with the big U-joints (since you'd need to replace those seals anyways).

Hey thanks Pete. Just got a leed on a late 90s xj might be upgrading more sooner than I thought. Like the Axel upgrade though.
