MJ box sides ?

how nice does it need to look in the end? I don't think you'll ever get the XJ stuff to look perfect. close maybe, to hide the gaping rust holes...

 

 

there's a company stamping out replacement panels. look at the sticky in the tech forum

Oh ya ? I have to give that a look see . . .

 

Last time I ordered replacement panels for a GM truck the panels looked great till you out them up to the truck and noticed the body lines were off 1/2" !

 

Anybody use these panels ?

Yea they have panels for LONG BED trucks useless to me i have a SHORT BED truck :fs1:

 

all i really need to do is push out where truck was whacked and patch the left side right above the tire 4 small holes rotted through . . .

 

If i'm going to hack and chop it, then i would rather not cobble the whole side just replace the wheel with a patch cut out of a front fender or rear 1/4 . . . Not have 2 large seems down the side of the truck . . .

I has to look Nice, truck is getting a completely rebuilt drive train upgrade along with an AMC V-8 engine jamminz.gif

 

It'll also be getting complete paint job and under coating might even splurge for a bed liner spray :D

The 2-door XJ quarter has smaller wheel arches, and the body line creases are at a different height than an MJ. There's no way you can use a large section of quarter panel from an XJ to repair an MJ and have it look right (or match the other side). What you can do is cut sections out of the XJ wheel arch flange and weld them onto the MJ to cover/replace rust. Since the flares are very different in size, I believe the hole spacing for the flare retainers is also different, but those can be redrilled once you have a solid flange there to work on.

the upper part of the fender well will work to replace your rusted section. otherwise, the entire bedside will NOT work. the fender wells are different heights, but all you need to replace is the part above and under the top of the flare.

both my front fenders are rest free, to bad they are dented and have to be replaced . . . Now if i replace my fenders with XJ fenders won't the front wheel wells be smaller as well ? . . .

 

I was going to use my fenders for the box repair . . . So i'll have to get actual MJ fenders then ? :fs1:

you want to use 2dr xj rear quarters to repair your bed.

 

 

you will be able to use the upper part of the wheel well from the 2 door to repair the rust above and behind the top of your fender flare on the bed.

 

 

I said fender flare, reguardless, there was NOTHING mentioned of front fenders. ignore front fenders, they can't be used to repair anything in the back.

All I need to repair is the top side of the rubber flare the 45s on around all solid metal yet.

 

Just so it all makes sence to me . . . XJ/MJ front wheel wells are the same ? But XJ/MJ rear wheel wells are different ?

 

I need fenders as well mine are dented Tis why I asked about the XJ to MJ fender interchange . . .
