SW86
oh well, maybe ill get off my @$$ and do the 97 clip swap: Looks like I'm getting off my @$$ on this one. The driver side fender was too beat up to use on the donor xj but I've got all the rest of the pieces

88whitemanche
Nice.... Just a question...how did you mount those lights on that bumper? Did you use self tappers?
SW86
Jcr attached two light tabs on the backside. I'm thinking 12" led bar in the future

SW86
Got the swap 85% done. Need the driver fender and some ac lines either removed or ill have to cut the housing. I'm going to take it back apart and decide. The grill is now painted white Also went on and cut the rest of the lower bedside. I've always wanted to do it, so I did. huricane4
How is the Mud Grappler? Good?
SW86
I am very pleased. I do many rock crawling and slight mud and they have done great in both. They do ok in sand but like to dig. My next set (35s) will be grapplers again. Price and performance are both good, so why not! Lol
OleGrey
Hey man, diggin your Comanche. How did you like the rough country lift / parts?
SW86
I didnt. :laughin: ride was terrible and shocks were nonexistent after a few months. they seem to have redone things and are supposed to be better. i know a few guys that work there and lots of people who run their stuff with no issues. i might give them a shot now days but back then i kicked myself for it. however, IMO, lift kits and things are like anything else. most of the time, you get what you pay for.... SW86
Finally got the other 98 fender. A guy got the xj in a trade and bailed on rebuilding it. We of course then set in like wolves Have to love a good strip down. Anyway I'm just waiting for decent weather to roll in to paint
SW86
Forgot to add I had to remove the a/c condenser lines to get the front clip to fit correctly. So I went on and removed everything a/c related except the compressor. Id really like to go OBA with it in the future. Seems pretty straight forward.. SW86
I got the pass side slider in but not burned in. And here's a driveway pic just because ;)
SW86
Welp my key got stuck in the "run" position. I had to fight with it a good while. I know my cylinder is good, so I dove in for the ignition switch.. It's out and throwing in a new one tomorrow. Hopefully it'll work.
SW86
No real updates (or pics)... I did get the ignition switch in and it solved the starting issue. Welded in the pass side rocker, made end caps and angled all the ends My steering box is leaking like crazy but I'm headed to the jy to snag one. I've got hoses and a cooler to rig up a steering fluid cooler for $#!&s and giggles.. Also broke out the half doors I made years ago. They were still painted green! Lol. I plan to run them a lot this year so they're getting painted
SW86
I just realized my half doors never made it into my build thread. Here's one I just painted to match the new scheme.. Can't wait to wheel with them on there again. Doorless is great but gets old with no arm rest after a day or so... Plus I only loose very little (if any really) visibility... benjy_26
Cool build! I'm definately stealing sime ideas from you.
SW86
Installed a jy steering box. No more leaking! Also went on and installed a new trans cooler and did the power steering cooler as well..
89eliminator
did you ever go to SMORR?
SW86
Unfortunately not. A couple of the other main guys going broke a bunch of stuff at superlift two weeks before the run. Only a few people were still willing to go but don't run the hard stuff. So I sat it out. Then about two weeks later a few more guys (same club, same guys in other people's jeeps) went down to a newer park past hawk pride orv in Alabama (stony lonesome). Again though those jeeps were doing easy stuff mainly, so I sat that out too. Two new parks i could of went to but I'm not into riding gravel roads or hitting one off camber spot all day... There are several more trips this coming month,,,,, none at smorr... I may just go alone and hope for the best LOL
89eliminator
it is doubtful, but i will let you know if we make it to SMORR this year again
SW86
Give me a shout a little before time when you think you'll go again. Surely ill go before then but I'd probably love to go again... Back to the thread, I went on and decided I want to do a different paint scheme. It'll wait until I remove the bed but it'll seriously be 80s trophy truck. Anyway since I had the bumper off for the coolers, I painted it white.
88whitemanche
I'm liking the white on white... It's something different that you don't get to see often
