87Chief Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Hey guys. I drove my mj the other day and when I got in I noticed the steering wheel moves... You can move it around like it's loose. But it also rides to the right... Any help will be appreciated! Thanks
jimoshel Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 The wiggle (UJoint) that lets the column tilt is loose. You want to tighten the 4 bolts, if I remember right, that holds it together B4 any of the bearings fall out. Requires removing the steering wheel, locking plate and turn signal assembly.
Eagle Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 The procedure to tighten up a loose GM tilt column is all over the Internet. I don't have it bookmarked because I don't have one, but someone here posted a link to one of the writeups within the past few weeks (IIRC).
87Chief Posted July 6, 2010 Author Posted July 6, 2010 Ok, thanks guys. I will try and do some research on that!
mfpdm Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Ah the ole sloppy tilt column. I had to do this as well. Here's a link for you that has great pics and other links as well on the subject. http://brackmann.org/berkeley/Jeep/wren ... gwheel.htm
87Chief Posted July 6, 2010 Author Posted July 6, 2010 Thanks A lot! wow You wouldn't happen to know anything about AMSoil would you?
mfpdm Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 You wouldn't happen to know anything about AMSoil would you? As a matter of fact, no. However, there is a member on here that is an AMSoil distributor or just a guru on it. Can't remember them right off hand but they have it in there sig.
