jackenacker Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Hi: I have 1986 MJ factory one ton with AMC 20 rear end would like to put disc brakes .
LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 There are a few "budget" conversion's out there. I'm working on doing this myself. I'll be using Nissan 300zx calipers with Geo Tracker 2 door front rotor's. You'll have to fab a bracket yourself but I do have it in CAD if you'd like me to email it to you.
Pete M Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 yup, creativity is the name of the game here. A popular package for random 5 on 4.5" axles is the rear disks from an Explorer. Not sure how well they would match up with your particular axle though.
neohic Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 ZJ rears work awesome too. From a Dana 35 to another 35, they bolt right on. But from a 35 to a 44 or a Chrysler 8 1/4, the center hole needs to opened up about an 1/8" all the way around. Not sure on the AMC 20, but maybe another route to look into.
pingpong Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 you also have to redril the caliper stands as well as the backing plate, and use TJ rubicon plates at that, or you have to cut a spcaer ring. I would assume it would be pretty much the same thing on the AMC 20 since it has a similar design as a d44
