Sadly this will be where i post my intro

Recommended Posts

i have a 1989 comanche (i'll upload better pics some other time) it only has 117xxxk original miles on it and runs great i just recently picked it up a few months ago. I started it up the other day and it now makes a VERY loud knocking sound that sounds like its coming from the tranny, its only really noticeable when its idling. when I'm actually driving its sounds perfectly fine. another small symptom is it sometimes stutters very slightly when I'm accelerating. being that I'm 20 with very little vehicular knowledge I'm not quit up to the task of handling this, but a neighbor said it sounds like my torque converter may be loose. i was essentially just trying to get a "this is whats wrong" from someone who knows so any feed back would be nice.

haha i knew what i was getting into, i ship out to boot in a few months so ill have plenty of extra cash to spend on this baby. but i did manage to fix the problem was just some loose bolts on the flex plate luckily i could reach them from below and didnt have to drop out the tranny or anything.

I had a knocking noise coming from what I thought was my tranny area too... Only at idle, and it would go away while driving... Turned out to be the exhaust banging on the crossmember due to worn out transmission mount... So definetly don't rule out easy fixes before you tear into something that doesn't need tore....
