Hick Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 My alternator went tonight about 11pm. Got towed home. My question is, what is a good alternator for the 2.5 in an 87 comanche?
mnkyboy Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 I ended up ordering one from NAPA. I checked every parts store around and nobody had one in stock so i had to order it. seems everyone stocks everything for the 4.0L but not as much for the 2.5L
El Comanche Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Find a local electric rebuilder. They can repair yours or provide one off the shelf. I recently got one for $100.
jimoshel Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 If the field or the armature windings are OK you can rebuild on e for less than $35 bucks, Thats complete, bearings, diodes, regulator. If any of those are good then the cost will be less. I refuse to buy any thing new if I can rebuild the old.
1990 Pioneer 4x4 Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 get it respooled, and it will be better than new.
one_bad_MJ Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 mine $#!& out Monday. had to order it from advanced auto 55.00 3 day wait. for some reason they quit socking the 4.0 comanche alternators. napa sucks. there dickheads and overpriced. in the long run in all reality a reman will work for a year or 2 then there junk. cheap built just buy one with a lifetime warranty. i do alot of mudding so lifetime warranty is the way to go for me
