  1. Check the linkage from the peddle. The weld may have broken at the pivot tube. Gord
  2. Try to find where the leak is. Also check the peddle linkage. The weld gave way on mine. Gord
  3. Thanks for the help. I will try to change the CPS. Gord
  4. The fuel pump is working. There is no spark. Would the CPS malfunction cause no spark? Any tips on how to access the cps ? Got the brake freed up and e brake release working. Gord
  5. Thanks I will check the fuel pump when I get up to the truck. Gord
  6. Thanks for the advice. Where is the CPS located and what does it look like? I thought it seemed like it may be a lack of gas. How do I check to see if fuel is at the injectors? Did any other Jeeps use the same E brake release? This is supposed to be my reliable parts pickup. Gord
  7. Ok when all the liquid potions fail, remove the crank as best you can. Remember this is to salvage what is possible. Get out the sledge hammer and a piece of wood to hammer the piston. When that failed I got my electric drill and relieved the piston of the mutch of the centre and hammerd the weakend remains out. Desparate measures for sure.
  8. We got the boat out of the lake with much spinning of tires and burning of clutch with our 91 2wd Eliminator. Up on land we let the clutch cool down sitting in neutral engine idling. Then the engine reved up a bit on its own and stopped. Tow truck tried to pull but one tire was dragging. Pulled release handle on E Brake, on third attempt the handle wirh a short piece of cable came off. Truck on flat bed to cottage. Engine turns over but will not start. Questions 1) probable cause of no start? 2) are release handles available ? 3) How can I release the E brake? Thanks Gord
  9. A rag joint is a flexible type of universal joint made with heavy canvas or recycled tires found on the steering shaft in the engine compartment.
  10. You could always install a big truckers air horn. My friend has a small air horn on his bike (not a motorbike} that has a 2 litre pop bottle to hold compressed air. It is loud!
  11. I bought 1 metre it was 55 to 60 inches wide. That covered the roof but not the visors. Use the whole can of spray adhesive. I also found the roof had some surface rust. There was no paint at all on most of the interior roof. Gord
  12. Audi and VW have nice comfortable seats. I had a Passat with cloth seats heated on both bum and back. Great in winter. On high heat it would keep pizza warm. Gord
  13. Does your MJ have a shifter on the steering column? The manual transmission shifter has a jam nut under the knob to aid in alligning the engraved shift pattern. Hold it steady while you twist off the knob.
  14. Take a catch pan under the vehicle when you are going to attempt any repair with oil still in the pan. I had that problem on a Toyota Van. The whole bottom of the pan was tissue thin. The screw and screw driver whent right through. What a mess a grinder would have made!
  15. Find a local electric rebuilder. They can repair yours or provide one off the shelf. I recently got one for $100.
