neohic Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Anyone know how the trim above the doors comes off? I tried just pulling by hand and I ended up bending the front and rear of the trim. Is there a trick to these things? Clips? Anything?
Jerry Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Anyone know the answer? I need to get mine off too TIA
wannabeMJ Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 I just pulled mine off with my hands altought mine was original on my 86 so all craked and dried out
mvusse Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Mine came off quite easily driving forward while it was leaning against a cliff side.
Akula69 Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 I took a small hard rubber hammer and tapped upwards along the outside bottom edge. It eventually came off, and I discovered it was held on by a series of small metal clips. The trim was not damaged, but the clips were destroyed by my removal technique (but I am not putting it back on anyway).
jteckmann Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 start at the bottom edge, and gently pull out while lifting up towards the roof, kinda like flipping open a lid where top inside of the rain gutter is the hinge (hope that makes sense, can't think of a better way to describe it) There are a series of metal tension clips that hold it in place. You'll probably stretch them out while getting them off. I was able to use a screwdriver to bend them back into place and put the trim back on - or you could use some adhesive.
