so i decided to go offroading and like every other time i take it easy i can crawl around and go anywhere, not today!!!! so i found out the hard way that my car isnt to fond of 2 feet of muck and another 6 inches of snow on top of that.... after burying my MJ i called my mom to give me a hand with her 2500 suburban.. that fell thru the ice of a huge trail puddle and sunk into that bottomless pit...while digging out my car i dropped my keys!!! those are gone and so are my driving privillages...i called up my uncle with a 2007 suburban with a 6 inch lift and 35s.. between 6 people we all got both cars out in about 3 hours of digging and pulling.. remind me to never go back there again!!

here's some lovley pictures

:fool: you need to go back there again just as soon as you can. just like learning to ride a bike when you fall. you get right back up and try again. but next time you go there make sure you have really big MUD jamminz.gif tires on your MJ.

and take more pictures!

Practice basic off road guidelines!! DON'T GO ALONE!! (The buddie in the seat beside you is good, but doesn't qualify!) Have basic recovery equipment, like good solid tow points front AND rear. Have a strap or two, if only one get a good one in 30'. NO HOOKS ON THE STRAP!!! You will Ned a couple shackles to attach the strap to the vehicles. Now all you need is some common sense. That's the tough one, its can't be bought, its gotta be learned !

Glad you got out with no breakage or injury sans your ego.

See if there is a local off road club you can tag along with sometime. Even just as a rider. There are a lot of little tricks and tip you can learn. You can also do research on line. Sounds funny to have to do research to go off road, but it aint the movies out there. There is a huge amount of energy stored in a vehicle that is stuck in the mud and being yanked on or winched.

I always have a set of tow hooks and 30' tow rope sitting in the back along with a shovel and some basic tools, at the time it was suppose to be a quick little 5 minute trip that turned into a few hour ordeal..... Ive been on this trail more times then I can count with my fingers and toes but I guess from all the melting snow a puddle collected in a low spot and froze over, the MJ is so light compared to my moms 2500 suburban so it just sat on top of the snow and my moms truck just sunk right in.... I wasnt thinking about the consequences but who does when your having fun? :wall:

I know about the energy because I did a lab in my physics class about objects being stuck and the amount of force you need to remove them and the amount of energy and tension between the two objects is pretty scary (especially dealing with cars) there are 2-3 clubs that have websites but nothing big, not alot of meets and all trailrides are at least 3-4 hours away.

Got the Cherokee stuck in the mess the snow plow left in front of my driveway. 4wd and snow tires let me down for the first time ever. Then had fun getting the Manche out as it was pretty much blocked in by the Cherokee. Eventually had it out and a few tugs later she was free. Got both vehicles parked in the drive only to find out I lost my keys somewhere.

Looked everywhere I've been since lunch when I last saw them, still unfound. :(

Don't worry dude, I was in the same situation a month or two ago. Got the sister's XJ stuck in the middle of a corn field about 200 feet off the side of a road down in a gully where a spring runs. And the guy that owns the field is a real $%@*# for people trespassing...which I was. Got buried up to the leaf springs in mud and it took two chevys to pull me out. My one friend with me during the ordeal didn't think that we should've gone through the ditch but said (and i quote) "If your gonna do it, give 'er hell!!!" And with that line of encouragement...I floored it! :rotfl2:
