Sir Sam
I don't care what anyone says, modern cars may be complicated, but modern cars as just plain safer. http://colorado4wheel.com/images/misc/crash.wmv
87Warrior
I remember seeing that a few months back somewhere. I agree that safety has come a long way in the automobile industry... but it was pointless to destroy a classic car to 'visually' show that it has. Wildman
Now that was cool  Yup, back in the day.......the tow trucks use to carry cutting torches on the trucks  That video shows why
-600JeepMJ
the old chevy may have looked good but how rusted out was the frame? I have seen a lot of old cars were the body looks great but the underside is about to fall apart from the rust.

glundblad
Unbelievable. They say old cars are safer than new ones. Also, the green police say SUVs are not as safe as cars. They are much safer as long as you don't drive them like a Ferrari. I remember about 7 years ago, a lady pulled out in front of me when I was going to work. I was driving a Tahoe. There were fluids leaking all over the road as we waited for the police & tow truck to arrive. Eventually, it was all cleaned up and the tow truck left with the car. Then I drove to work... mvusse
SUVs have a higher center of gravity, and so will roll over easier. People drive them like they drive cars->bad thing waiting to happen. Safety is also relevant, Large SUVs, like my old Suburban are safer for the occupant, but more dangerous for whatever hits it. Assuming I'm driving a 6000 pound Suburban traveling at 35mph, and a 3000 pound car hits head on, also doing 35mph. Which vehicles occupants are likely to be hurt worse and experience higher g forces? A lot of the force is absorbed by the metal crumpling up, but momentum stays the same. After the crash, the mass that was two vehicles is not moving 12mph in the direction the Suburban was. Suburban slowed by 23 mph, car slowed by 47 mph (now travelling backwards) in the same amount of time. Add to that more room around the occupants of the Suburban and stronger construction to handle the vehicle's lafger weight. I miss my Suburban. I do not miss it's gas mileage.
