Will it work?

So i'm still on the verge on making my MJ Four wheel drive. Got the upper arms welded and ready to put on. Making the lowers this weekend. All I have to do left is Gears,mount tranny/T-case and get a drive shaft.

 

A buddy of mine came up and told me his dad has a 1986 2.8 Jeep MJ 4x4 long box. He only wants 500 bucks for it. The question I have is will the drive shaft work for my project? I have the 4.0 AW4/231 setup.

 

If it will work, Myself and two of my other buddys are chipin' in to buy the thing; i'm taking the shaft, and they are going to make it a wheelin' rig.

Sorry, but not only will the d-shaft probably be the wrong length, the shaft is of an inferior design. 86s got gipped in the front d-shaft.

I forgot to put that I was wondering about the rear shaft. Will the rear shaft work. Also what do you mean they got gipped?

It's a skinny little front driveshaft. Just plain wussy. I doubt the rear will fit either.

Daggummit. I was hopeing it would work. Oh well maybe I will get to see my buddys make a nice little Manche Buggy. Thanks for the help Pete. I'll still go take some measurements and see if it will work.

I have a front driveshaft from a 92 auto 242.

That 86, is it a stick or auto?

The 86 is an auto, wouldnt happen to have a rear d-shaft from a long bed 4x4 would yah?
