My new project 89 XJ

well I bought an 89 cherokee today . The guy wanted 900 but i got it for 700. here is what it has.

It is a 1989 cherokee 4 door 4x4, AT trans, slip yoke elemenater ,Rino lined inside and out.

front and rear custome bumpers. front is a winch type with full grill and light guards, rear is a swing out tire carrier, Con-fer roof rack. Safari snorkle( missing the intake hook up ) high pionon dana up front and a rear 44, both I'm told are locked. but front making grinding noise,. So hopefuly it is lock front and rear . roll cage, rock sliders. there is a winch with it . but no cable ( working or not unknown) found paper work for a motor rebuild in 97 . 40 over with a RV cam . It does run and sound strong .also the is a lock rite locker sticker in the glove box. Also there were in the jeep OEM repair manuals. 3 of them . I think I made out really well on this deal ( about time ) here is a link to the picks. sorry they are dark but It was dark when we got home a few hrs ago.

even with a possibly bad front axel you can get a fronrt end for 2-300 bucks where i live

Yeah I have a parts 89 XJ in my yard right now. it was to dark to really look at anything but I will pull that cover off tomarrow and see whats up.

and I just found a parts list from the owner stating everything he has done to it. and what all it should have on it . Ill take better pics tomarrow too .

whats with the street tiers on the front . are they the same size? if not theres why your front ends terin itself apart

thats what I was thinking 88mjmanche. ! I made out really well I think .

And the tire size are the same front and rear. I just pulled the front cover off. The pinion brging is SHOT and I mean SHOT ! So the gears were binding up on it. not sure if I will need to replace the ring and pinion at this time . I will have to have some one look at it a that knows this stuff.

of the gears havnt easten themselves up yet just replace the pinion bearing

there is some scaring but it didn't look to horrific. I will try the brg first and see what happends

yea i ran my kawi atv untioll the gears destoyed themselves . i had to get s new diff

That's a heck of a deal, I'd be hard pressed not to cannibalize/swap out some of the parts for my Comanche, make my money back and then some.

yea if i were going t go that way id strip the xj down to loose weight and put the stuuff i took offf on the mj. it was you that needed a rear bumer right? theres a beefy lookin bumper with 2 2 ince reciever on it there

is there a winch behind the bumper , and whats the gear ratio i might have a peplacement ring, pinion , carrier , and bearings :thumbsup:

Yes there is a place for a winch on the front bumper. and the gear ratio is 4.11

Cool toy , good buy , besides its all money anyway . Have fun and build it how you want it . Its better to have lived broke and happy

than rich and sad . You should make it all beefy w/ external cage and all that !!
