Dana 30 ujoints

I have a 95 XJ dana 30 in the front of the MJ. I wanted to know if this model would have the larger 5-297X ujoints?

An easy way to check is to measure the diameter of the bearing caps. :thumbsup:

The bearing caps have a diameter of 1''. What should the diameter of the different ujoints be?

5-260x are 1 1/16", 5-297x and 5-760x ($30 stronger upgrade/swap for the 297) are 1 3/16".

 

I believe all 97 and up came with the larger ones, as well as latter part of 96. Earlier 96 and older only if it has anti lock brakes, or have been swapped by PO.

 

Correct me if I'm wrong, as my memory has been a bit rusty lately.

 

Since you measured 1", I'm assuming they are 1 1/16" and thus the smaller 5-260x ones.

They were slightly bigger than an inch, but since my digital calipers are missing, I had to get close with a tape measure. I guess that I will need to upgrade my axle shafts.

5-760x are the way to go.

Those are what I'm running. Once I upgrade the Cherokee it will have them as well, and keep the old 260 Cherokee ones as trail spares.

Yeah, I don't have any spares right now so the old shafts will serve that duty.

 

EDIT: Anyone know of any other company that sells the Ten factory axles for the D30?
