redneck23ms
can the canister be done away with if one is no longer using it for the fuel tank vents?
Pete M
the canister stores vacuum energy for the HVAC system. The charcoal canister is what absorbs fumes from the gas tank.
redneck23ms
doh. i was thinking of the charcoal canister. i already have the vac. can under the hood.
HOrnbrod
Some of the older Renix cannisters had two ports w. a built-in check valve; my 91 had the football cannister w. one port and w/o a check valve. Simple answer - replace/relocate w. a similar reservoir to what you have. But unless you have devices besides the normal HVAC controls, like cruise or other devices that need more vacuum, any single port tank will work just fine as long as there is a check valve either inline or built-in the tank. akamcbird
well i guess i need more explanation of how it works. i was hopping to be able to replace it with something that wasnt a car part and have something different. i could get another oe unit but I'm tryin to be cool. lost it a few days ago and aside from the idle being a little off it hasnt caused me much grief .
