86MJX Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 i got the rear end in and now i can't get the drive shaft to slide onto the tail shaft on the t case any ideas, 86mj 4x4 2.8 auto
Pete M Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Did this driveshaft previously fit onto that t-case?
86MJX Posted September 9, 2009 Author Posted September 9, 2009 yep and i cleaned out the yoke and all it might just need some greese. it will go about 2" in but then stops i just did not want to get out there and start beating on it.
Pete M Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Are the splines in the t-case and in the yoke perfectly straight and free from any burrs?
86MJX Posted September 9, 2009 Author Posted September 9, 2009 ill go check out the splines on the t case
86MJX Posted September 9, 2009 Author Posted September 9, 2009 the splines look good. idk I'm just stumped :hmm: :dunno:
Pete M Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 There's nothing to indicate that it's keyed is there? (meaning that there's only one way it goes on successfully)
Automan2164 Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 I don't think its keyed, but it could be. Look for a "master" spline. Might be a tad thicker than the rest, or double width. Also, does it hit home hard? Or is it more of a soft stop? Progressively more tight, or easy and just stops? Rob L.
akamcbird Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 it is keyd one biggr tooth on the case side
86MJX Posted September 10, 2009 Author Posted September 10, 2009 its like it gets tighter but ill check tommorrow if it is keyedb
