Mysterious Find Under Carpet...Any Ideas??

Hi All,

 

While checking for rust under the carpet as suggested, I find this under the passenger side next to the trans hump:

 

 

 

 

:???:

 

It appears to have been painted the factory original color.

 

Is it some sort of tool left in by mistake at the factory? :???:

Looks about the same on the drivers side. I did notice a BIG source of water under here is the A/C evaporator case. I was driving around all day with the A/C on (rainy day) and the case was sweating bad. Carpet damp directly below it.

 

Drive side had a body plug missing??? looks like never installed from the factory? Can see the ground. Hmm... was mine build on a Monday or Friday??? :chillin:

It's 3" long and 1-1/4" Diameter...

 

Could it be part of the shifter assembly? :???:

I've seen that before..trying to think where... :wall:

 

Maybe part of the 4x4 shift lever assembly. I'm gonna have to go through some old pics.
