manche75 Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 I have an 88 2wd swb comanche and have a broken front spring, i figured why replace them with stock ones when I can lift it or lower it. So i figured id lower it. Any suggestions on where i can find springs? Or if springs from another type of jeep will work?
WBKrazy Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 i don't think they make lowering springs... someone on here will prolly prove me wrong tho...
CWLONGSHOT Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Factory TJ springs will lower the front 1-1.5" IIRC.... CW
manche75 Posted May 1, 2009 Author Posted May 1, 2009 will the tj springs fit? Are they the same diameter around?
Geonovast Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Factory ZJ rear coils will drop the front 1.5-2 inches.
Eagle Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 front coils or rear? Front coils from the TJ (Wrangler). Rear coils from the ZJ (early Grand Cherokee). Yes -- they fit.
project88mj Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 :hijack: and this is off jeep topic but...... any one know how to lower a 1995 1/2 ton chevy? it has a V6 and it 2wd so pretty much never going to be fast or good at offroading so I'm going street truck with it. i wanting about 5 inches in the front and 6-7 in the rear (i already installed 2" lowering shackles)
wolfpackjeeper Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 IFS, buy a kit. going that low on an independent system is going to mean new spindles and such I would think.
trader ray Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Just want to ask this without starting a new thread, I have a 89 MJ 2 W/D with the 2.5 engine. I have striped a 90 XJ just about completly and it had the 4x4 with auto trans, 4.0 engine. I took the springs from the front and want to put them on my MJ to get a little lift out of it. Will they provide any lift? Thanks in advance. The XJ was the Larado version.
Pete M Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 They should provide a little bit. Maybe an inch. Depends on how saggy they were in the XJ.
trader ray Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 With the 2WD I guess it will be worth the time to install. I will have the fenders off as well. Thanks for the reply
