JOMJ87
So here on base they are holding an ugliest vehicle contest and everyone is telling me at the shop that i should enter (even my Captain) so what do yall think. I might have won before it was painted but I'm not sure if it would now? before NOW Should i even try? Cole
Hot Rod Jeep
Sure, why not? I would. I agree though the first pic makes it a better canidate. Hey off the subject for a second, how do you have your doors set up? Are they just pinned some how to take them on and off real easy? I want to do that to mine, I was just curious how. Thanks, Shawn. 8) And good luck on winning!
JOMJ87
I cut the lower third of the hinge off here is a diagram and my write up on it. If you have any more questions let me know it was fairly simple. http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1217 This is a pic of the actual hinge after it was cut. Hot Rod Jeep
Kewlness, thanks for the diagram and pic. What's the easiest way to cut it? I know it's kinda tight in there. I've got a sawzall and a 4 1/2" grinder. 8)
JOMJ87
Your best bet is to remove the hinge pins which can be a PITA just beat the sh*& out of them or unbolt the hinge from the door. The reason you have to do this is because a sawzall blade won't cut without smacking the door. After you do either of the above you can easily cut the lower third off with a sawzall and then put everything back together with new hinge pin (perferably shorter ones around 1.5") cause the longer they are the harder they are to line up and get to drop in. Also set the top one in so its a little shorter so you can get one in then the other will start easily. Then realign the door or just mark the points around the door half of the hinge before you remove it. And you should be good to go. One more thing the tool i found easiest to use is in this post: http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1613 Cole

JOMJ87
Thats what I'm being told now by a couple of strangers that just so happen to catch me in the truck as they walk by. Everyone seems to like the design of the ppaint I think it will be even better with the other stuff on it i.e. MJ-87. I even had a guy crawling around and looking over everything when i came out of a store on base today. I had a feeling he either hit my truck (i would have been pissed) Or wanted to know how much lift and what setup i had. But it was an stock XJ guy wanting to know why my springs were so flat with all that lift :D So i explained the difference in SOA XJ and SUA MJ to him and he loved everything. I guess the contest is out of the question since so many people like it now. Its amazing how much more people resond to it now and like it with just a couple of coats of spray paint. Oizarod115
i seriously doubt you'd even place in an ugly vehicles contest. even before paint a manche is way cool. (people asked my brother how much he payed for that rattlecamo jerb  ) good job on the paint, can't wait to see the MJ-87 placed.
