SkipshotMJ Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Hey guys. I was fourwheeling last week out at hollsiter hills and i ended up ripping off my passenger mirror and breaking the bracket that attaches it to the body  . After i came back home i went to my local pick-n-pull to get a new one BUT, i couldnt find any of the original mirrors. I see that a number of the MJs on here have the XJ mirrors. How hard is to to switch to them? Thanks!-Ian
james750 Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 I put them on mine because my factory tow mirrors were vibrating on the highway. The new ones were a bolt in swap, i pulled the door panel off, removed the inside mirror blank, removed the three torx screws to pull the outer mirror blank. Then the new ones just bolt into the new place with the mirror control ending up inside the cab with a new inside mirror blank. Took about an hour to do both sides and install new vent wing windows. It was totally worth it.
mfpdm Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Since your going to the trouble, find a set of 97+ XJ mirrors. They are better and allow you to fold them out of the way on the trail. Here's a write up in the DIY section.
watchamakalit Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Are the 97+ mirrors larger that our factory mirrors?
