possum Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I was just wondering how some of you guys braced in between the frame rails out front for side pulls. Pics would be greatly appreciated.
mjeff87 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I’m using a stock XJ towbar bracket that I found in the junkyard a couple years ago. It bolts inbetween the tow hooks and hook brackets. I’ve never seen another one since the one I found, but it wouldn’t be too hard to fab up something similar: Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found
pingpong Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Thats how most of the better tow hook kits come, including the factory ones. RigidCo, also goes a step further by running a plate all the way across the front to strengthen the whole area. A piece of 6" wide plate will do the trick. Stay tuned for how I build my next stealth winch bumper
possum Posted February 27, 2009 Author Posted February 27, 2009 I think I have an idea. Mjeff are those angle brackets above the towbar homemade or did you get them somewhere? My towhooks are attached with the two big bumper bolts so the tow bar wouldn't help me.
Frankdm83 Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 I don't have a pic of mine right now, but I bought a front hitch/tow hook set up from Rusty's. It is very stout for doing the same thing, and looks good too.
Drahcir495 Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Here is mine -> They are in the Quadratec cataloge for $114.99 w/receiver #76045.801, or without for $109.99 #76045.800.
LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Nothing special but I made one to attach the tow bar to for when I flat tow. I'm using C4x4 Tow Hooks/Brackets than just added a cross brace to attach the tow bar brackets. I just used flat stock and than added a few bolts/spacers to tie it into the factory front cross-rail.
possum Posted March 4, 2009 Author Posted March 4, 2009 So the flat stock is a sufficient brace for side pulls? That just made things a bunch easier. Thanks guys.
