mjeff87 Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Just triple-checking, but better to be sure than not..... I know YJ tranny flange bolt holes are clocked differently in the rear section than an XJ/MJ, but are the BH's the same? and is there any difference between the bolt patterns on a 4.0 and a 4.2? (I'm a 2.5 guy, ya know :D ) Buddy of mine in PA has a Sahara YJ and a cracked BH and can't find a replacement (...a couple places even told him it's all a 1 pc trans and the BH isn't removable  ) Trying to help him out via the junkyard and snagging one from an XJ/MJ. If a YJ does ever land in there, it's nothing but a frame within a day  TIA, Jeff
Eagle Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 The bolt pattern is the same for the 4.0L as the 4.2L but I do not know if the AX-15 tranny used the same bell housing as the Peugeot. If the question is a YJ bell housing vs. an XJ bell housing -- they should be the same.
Pete M Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 The Peugeot does not share a bellhousing with the AX-15. But as Eagle said, the AX-15s should all share the same bellhousings (aside from the external and internal designs). If it's just a crack, can't he get the bellhousing welded back together?
mjeff87 Posted July 24, 2006 Author Posted July 24, 2006 I eyeballed it, and it's definately an AX15. I suggested he just weld it up but he wants to replace it. It's a bow-shaped crack that runs the entire length of the bottom where it mates to the gearbox. I honestly don't know what's holding that chunk of metal in place aside from good luck ;) Gonna see if I can snag an Xj one out of the boneyard, unless someone on here has an extra BH laying around they'd want to part with (and save my back from dropping a tranny). Either ship to me in VA or I can get an addy for him in PA. Jeff
mjeff87 Posted July 25, 2006 Author Posted July 25, 2006 I fergot to verify :dunce: , but from what I remember looking at, I didn't see an external cylinder on it, so it must be in-. I'll call him tomorrow and make sure. Jeff
Cabz Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 If you don't find a BH local , I have an internal BH with a new slave I'l let go real cheap + shippin.
Eagle Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 Man, if he's in PA he should be heading to that HUGE pick & pull yard in Hazleton. You can see the place right from I-81, just off the same exit as Paragon Off-Road Park. I think it's called Harry's. They always have Jeeps. Lots of Jeeps. If he's closer to Philadelphia, he should also check the u-pull in Conshohoken. Don't remember the name on that one, though. Shorty's? Shorty & Dave's? Something like that.
mjeff87 Posted July 27, 2006 Author Posted July 27, 2006 It's an internal slave. Cabz/Pete/anybody.....whatcha got? Jeff

Other end of the state, the "Pittsburgh" side....and there ain't sheeeat over there. That's why I moved to VA, so I could have a junkyard to build my MJ from :D Jeff

Yup , I have an internal slave ax15 BH I don't need . It also has an almost brand new slave cyl with it , I picked up an external slave BH for my MJ a few days ago.
Pete M Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 If all goes well, I should have an internal bellhousing freed up when my 90 is finished. Maybe by this weekend.
