james750
If I found some 2 door buckets from an XJ and used my MJ bench brackets, what would I do about the forward/back movement release on the passenger seat? :dunno: Seems like there would be some linkage going across the hump that wouldnt be compatible with a full console. Eagle
In an XJ, the front passenger seat has its own lever, it isn't connected to the driver's seat. That lever isn't there on the MJ passenger seat base, but it could easily be made up out of a length of 1/4" steel rod from Home Deport and weld in. Or ... just set the passenger seat half or 2/3 of the way back and leave it.
james750
ok, my next clarification question is: The bench brackets are the same as the bucket brackets besides the linkage going across the hump, right?
vzehler
The brackets are the same. However you will want to separate your mj brackets from the sliders and use the XJ sliders on your brackets.
Pete M
Only the MJ floor brackets will be reused. You'll be bolting the XJ bucket tracks to them. The bench tracks (the slider assemblies) will stay with the bench.
mvusse
You marked a front floor bracket, but not a rear one...
garmj
What I did was drill out the rivets that hold the part of the seat brackets to the floor on both the MJ bench seat and the ones on the XJ buckets and used allen headed bolts and locknuts to secure the brackets to the seat sliders, the only hard part is drilling out the rivets and spot welds. :fs1: The seat adjusters stay with the seat so if your passenger seat in the XJ was adjustable it still will be. james750
ok, I think I could do this swap! Now I am going to look for a set of seats. Not in a hurry though, as I want to find a set of nice seats to use.
Pete M
You marked a front floor bracket, but not a rear one... Yeah I know. :( I need to find my original pic and redo it.
